Discount Market Sale (DMS) Valuations

Discount Market Sale (DMS) is a low cost home ownership scheme which allows a new build property to be purchased at a discounted price below market value. This discount is usually around 20% and the scheme aims to help people who live and/or work in a borough to get onto the property ladder. Unlike other shared ownership schemes, no rent is payable on the non-purchased share and owners can live in the property as long as they wish.

When selling the property or buying the remaining share you will need to obtain and provide the council with an independent valuation carried out by a Chartered Surveyor and Registered Valuer (you may need more than one valuation). The Valuer will provide a market value for the sale or purchase of your percentage share in your property.
