Inheritance Tax valuations are undertaken as at the date of death.  Although in our experience most valuations are no more than 12 months old, it can be the case that Probate matters go on for many years and we have carried out valuations on property for Inheritance Tax purposes for dates in excess of 30 years ago.  It is important to establish the value of the property at the date of death to allow the completion of Probate.
